What Makes Chicago a Famous Place?

While reciting a poetic verse “To Chicago,” Charles Frederick White said,

“Chicago, mistress of the lakes,
Controller of our inland trade,
The freest city of our states,
What wondrous strides thy fame has made!”

There are a lot many things that make Chicago a world famous city.

Some of the most important aspects of the city that brings fame to it are being discussed here. Chicago is one of the largest and third most populous cities in the United States with 2,851,268 residents living there.

Chicago was founded in 1833 and in 1837; it acquired the status of a city. Soon it outpaced the growth of any other city in Midwestern United States and became the biggest city in Illinois.

Because of its intense popularity and historical and contemporary importance, Chicago has been given many nicknames that explain the nature of the city.

Some of the very popular nicknames of Chicago are “The City that Works”, “Second City”, “Chi-town”, “City of Big Shoulders”, “The Most American of Big Cities”, and “Windy City.”

The city is famous for its innovative culture. The game of softball was invented in Chicago and the game gained immense popularity throughout the nation. Chicago gave some of the most impressive sports teams such as Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Cubs.

Chicago is famous for some of the most wonderful engineering and technology successes. In 1900’s, engineers in Chicago created a wonder by successfully changing the flow of Chicago River, making it to run into the Mississippi River.

Earlier, the Chicago River used to empty its waters into Lake Michigan.

Chicago always remained first in the field of engineering and technology. The tallest building of the western hemisphere is Willis Tower which is 110 stories high and it is one of the important buildings of Chicago.

The oldest zoo of the United States is also situated in Chicago. Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the 3 free zoos of the county that entertains millions of visitors every year.

Chicago has also gained name in medical world and the very first public blood bank of the world was opened in Chicago in the year 1937.

In order to solve out the issue of blood shortage in Chicago, Dr. Bernard Fantus created that blood bank at Cook County Hospital.

The story of inventive and innovative Chicago is endless. In the year 1930, the very first planetarium of the entire western hemisphere was built in Chicago and in 1950; Chicago gave the first ever remote control for the television set.

Chicago is thus famous for its technological innovativeness, sports and a variety of cultural aspects. In addition, some of the highly talented people also make Chicago a famous city throughout the world.

Some of the Chicago celebrities are Oprah Winfrey, Roger Elbert, Jerry Springer, Harrison Ford, Michael Jordan, R. Kelly, Hugh Hefner and Barack Obama along with many others.

Around 32.4 million tourists made a visit to Chicago in the year 2008 in which 1.3 million visitors were from foreign countries.

Some major attractions for tourists include the eminent architecture of beautiful city along with impressive shopping centers and restaurants at State Street and Magnificent Mile.

The Chicago Cultural Center was established in 1897 and it worked as Chicago Public Library for many years.

Nowadays, visitors may enjoy attractive exhibitions, galleries and special services through Visitors Information Center. The Grant Park of Chicago is another attractive feature of the city which includes the Buckingham Fountain and Millennium Park.

The city offers a lot many attractions for people with different tastes and that is why it attracts such a large number of tourists every year.

Hometown Model, Francesca Frigo, shares her Beauty Secrets and Life as a Playboy Playmate

It's officially summer so I've decided to turn up the heat to muy caliente! Although our city is saturated with models, it's inarguable that Miami's own Francesca Frigo is making big moves in the modeling industry and bringing sexy back while doing so! Born in Puerto de la Cruz, Venezuela, Francesca first moved to Miami to attend college and later decided to pursue a modeling career. After Playboy Magazine named her the official Miss August 2010 Playmate, life has taken her on an incredible journey around the world. In my special interview with Frigo, you'll get the inside scoop on her upcoming projects, her role with DECOBIKE on South Beach and her beauty secrets. Let's get this heat rising! MBS: How did you begin your modeling career and what inspired you to enter the industry? [Picture above courtesy of Wildcard Photography]

FRIGO: As funny as it may sound, I have to say I started taking pictures by accident. A friend of mine asked me to do him a favor and take some pictures for his vodka company. That's when the camera and I met for the first time.

MBS: How do you stay in shape?

FRIGO: I love playing sports (anything that involves physical activity and laughing). I also workout at the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I don't kill myself counting calories! I grew up having homemade meals so I don't eat a lot of processed foods. However, I do have a crazy sweet tooth...chocolate is my weakness!

MBS: Do you have any beauty secrets you can share with my readers?

FRIGO: My mom always told me the less make-up I wear, the healthier my skin would become. Similar to other girls, I love make-up but I only wear it when it's necessary. Of course, one should never go to bed with make-up on. My beauty secrets: Trish McEvoy body scrub and Carol's Daughter almond cookie body lotion keep my skin glowing.

MBS: How has your life changed after being named Playboy Magazine’s August 2010 Playmate? [Francesca is pictured above along with Hugh Hefner]

FRIGO: Now, I have a whole new family at the Playboy Mansion and I basically live out of a suitcase. I have done a lot of traveling, shoots, commercials and I recently finished filming a movie. Yes, my life has changed a bit!

MBS: What do you love most about DECOBIKE and how do you feel about being their Ambassador? [Check out her picture on the left with fellow Ambassador, Chad Ochocinco].

FRIGO: DECOBIKE is a project I have been involved with since its conception. I loved the idea of bringing a healthy mode of transportation that would also be good for the environment. I'm happy to be supporting a company with a cause that I believe in.

MBS: What are your favorite places to visit when you’re in Miami?

FRIGO: Sometimes I feel as if I were a tourist in Miami. I can always be found walking around Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road. I often check myself into hotels on the weekends to get spa treatments and just order room service [it's honestly the best restaurant]! Both, the Four Seasons Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental have amazing spas. The Setai on South Beach has the best brunch in the world!

Hugh Hefner will not marry with Crystal

 Hugh Hefner is planning to get married on Saturday, June 18 had to be broken hearts deeply. Due before 5 days before the wedding day direncakannya Crystal Harris abruptly canceled his future wife's wedding plans are already mature.


If Hefner get married at the end of this week is counted as a marriage the third time. Playboy boss Hugh Hefner as feeling very disappointed and who knows what he'll do with this incident. It was Hugh Hefner's unexpected about this sudden decision. Indeed, this week there has been a big fight between Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris, who is also a Playboy girl.

The quarrel was not as seen by Hugh Hefner already cooled. Behind the Crystal Harris's attitude was still kept a feeling that can not be forgotten by Crystal and causing it (Crystal Harris) should take this decision. Crystal lebihmudah 60 years under Hugh Hefner and immediately packed up all his possessions out of the Playboy Mansion.

While still in touch Crystal once declared that her relationship with Hugh Hefner is not based on wealth. She loved Hugh. And that she will perform and signed for premarital agreements. While the prenuptial that Hugh does not give her anything and she did not ask. Hugh pays Crystal did her work in music and modeling.
